Preaching These Days
A conversation with Disciples preachers about the preaching life.
In this panel discussion, three preachers who serve local Disciples congregations reflect on what preaching is like these days. How do we prepare our sermons? What particular challenges are we facing? In what ways are we responding to the world around us? What resources are we finding helpful?
Featuring Samuel Ramirez, Emily Bowen-Marler, and Janae Pitts-Murdock. Moderated by Lee Hull Moses.
Preaching These Days is a panel conversation in which three preachers serving local Disciples of Christ congregations reflect candidly on what it means to preach in the present moment. Together, they take up questions at the heart of the preaching life: How do we actually prepare our sermons week after week? What particular challenges are we facing right now? In what ways is the world around us shaping what we preach — and how we preach it? And what resources are we finding genuinely helpful?
Lee Hull Moses moderates the conversation, drawing out the perspectives of three Disciples preachers who bring diverse congregational contexts and voices to the table. This honest, peer-to-peer reflection offers something different from a lecture or skills workshop: a chance to hear colleagues think out loud about the craft, the struggle, and the meaning of weekly proclamation as a living practice in today’s church.
Whether you are a solo pastor preaching with little peer support, or simply looking for a sense of companionship in the work, Preaching These Days is a reminder that the questions you are carrying are questions your colleagues are carrying too.
