This sermon series is designed to introduce your congregation to the core values of Global Ministries, which is the common witness of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ.

These materials are designed to be flexible enough to adapt to your congregation’s context.The scriptural reflections and discussion will be helpful to preachers in sermon preparation. The sermon starters will prompt preachers to apply the text to their own setting as well as connect to Global Ministries work beyond the local church. Liturgy resources, including prayers, calls to worship, and interactive worship ideas, will help worship planners engage the text and theme.

The series explores the following topics over five weeks:

Week One
Community: Building interdependence and unity among all of God’s children
Philemon 1:4-7

Week Two
Mutuality: Walking in hope with others in God’s mission
1 Corinthians 12:12-27

Week Three
Justice: Living out God’s radical love by confronting powers that deny the fullness of life and the integrity of creation
Isaiah 10:1-2

Week Four
Peace: Embodying reconciling relationships with God, humanity, and creation
Matthew 5:9 (3-10)

Week Five
Presence: Manifesting God’s love by living in intentional, committed relationships
Romans 12:9-18
